Amber Mims

Hello My Name Is...

Amber Mims

Born in California. Moved to Texas in 2008.
Graduated Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Media. Concentration is strategic communications with a focus in public relations and a minor in advertising. Working on my teaching certification with Texas Teachers.

I began working full time as the Communications Specialist for Nacogdoches I.S.D. in August 2015. In my position with the district, I regularly exercised my skills in Adobe Creative Suite CC 2015, Microsoft Office, and website and social media management for the district. I worked directly with the campuses and department administrators in order to share important district information with parents, students, and community members. I moved from this position to Nacogdoches High School as a new Career and Technology Education (CTE) teacher for Arts, Audio and Video Technology, and Communications.

This year, I am teaching three different preps: Principles of Arts, Audio and Video Technology, and Communications, Audio and Video Production One, and Audio and Video Production Two. I am sponsoring the A/V Club. The A/V Club meets during lunch on Mondays. Members can request to be added to my Dragon Den. Please have your students speak with me before requesting the change. There are different expectations of the A/V Club during Dragon Den.

I am also co-sponsoring for the Anime Club (I will be attending club meetings on Fridays after school) and co-sponsoring Technology Student Association (TSA).

I want to inform all my students and their parents/guardians that my husband and I are expecting our first child to be born on November 9, 2017. I will have the students continue with projects and assignments while I am on maternity leave. During my leave, there will be a substitute watching over the students. If you having any concerns or questions, please feel free to email me at amims@nacisd.org.
